9 ANKARA STYLES FOR THE WEEK

ankara-styles-madivas-3

Being fashionable means having a great sense of style. Having a great sense of style equates a perfect way to show your unique traits to the world. Having a good sense style doesn’t just come naturally, it has to be learned voluntarily or involuntarily. This means you get to pick up on the best colors that can be paired together, the best cut for a fabric etc. Although being more creative can be a gift, this doesn’t take away from the fact that experiments have to be carried out in order to find out what clothes, colors, cuts and length flatter you most (the options are endless).

People have said that a great style is a style that is truly your own but nobody is an island and so researching styles play an important role in fashion. Being Africans’s we tend to lean towards a certain type of style, but this has since changed. The Nigerian fashion scene received a boost in which the Ankara fabric once again became one of our favorite fabrics.

One thing I love about using fabrics is the fact that you can tailor them to fit your needs. An Ankara fabric is one of the best in the world (doesn’t hurt that it is mostly made of cotton) because you can express yourself. Style doesn’t have a rule book only tips and guide and so once you know what you want, you can tweak it to suit your body type and size. Scroll down to check out the Ankara styles below;

10 Nigerian Fashionistas That Have Totally Rocked The Dungaree Trend

fresh

Dungarees or overalls are pieces of clothing that were previously regarded as work clothes.

They were worn as protective clothing for artisans. From Bob the Builder to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, the dungarees were a popular fashion staple in the 90s. They disappeared for a while and made a comeback in the 2000s due to their comfort, hardiness and durability.

As with fashion trends, our Nigerian fashionistas have tried them and if we’re going by how they look, then you may want to wear dungarees for the rest of your life. Here are our favorites ever!

Women’s fashion 2016

womens-clothing-jiji-2

Each collection in the following season will bring you back to the recent but vivid past. While looking at the new shows, you will repeatedly draw multiple analogies with the collections of Helmut Lang, whose minimalistic but bold sexy style has turned the fashion on both sides of the ocean upside down. So you got to be prepared for the new season both mentally and physically!

womens-clothing-jiji-1Clothing for women on Jiji: we offer a variety of clothes models for different ages, color preferences, as well as different style looks at the best prices!

90’s

The fashion of the last decade of the last century is the main inspiration source for the spring-summer 2016 season.

Ballet

Wear multilayer skirts made of transparent tulle, chiffon and nylon day and night.

Futurism

Metal foil is in trend due to its intense shine and reflective properties. This most fashionable texture will also protect you from sunlight in any spring and summer time.

Jungle

Animalistic and plant tropical prints are still trendy.womens-clothing-jiji-2

Underwear & Sleepwear

The tendency to appear in public in a negligee is becoming increasingly popular.

Men’s pajamas and lace chemises are to be worn casually on a daily basis.

Motorcycling

A sophisticated tight-fitting cut and bright details borrowed from bikers’ uniform look quite refreshing in everyday life.

Green color

Health has finally come into fashion and even reached podiums. Just choose a shade of green to match your morning juice.

Punk and Grunge

Fashion aesthetic of alternative rockers from early 90s wearing worn-out black leather jackets and ragged tops is still quite trendy.womens-clothing-jiji-3

Stripes

This fashionable variation of the most popular print on the planet will be on top this spring-summer season. You should pay closer attention to either very broad red stripes or very narrow blue ones. That’s all.

Tie Dye

The most popular way of decorated clothes from hippie generation is now in fashion shows of the most famous fashion houses.

Open-knit style

This is another trend from the 90s. You will look particularly impressive in a long dress made entirely in an open-knit style.

Tricolor

Russia, France, and the United States do not always come to consensus, but it doesn’t apply to the color issue. A combination of red, blue and white looks fashionable and brave in any of the fashion states.Women's fashion 2016

Feminine safari

Safari style will look sexy like never before in the spring of 2016.

These are ultrashort skirts and boxy jackets in the style of the 80’s.

Wildflowers

You won’t do without flowers this summer season.

Light cotton fabric with flowery print is the main trend in the fashion of summer 2016.

Sequins

It is by far the best choice for the evening. Always.womens-clothing-jiji-5
